Join us on an unforgettable trip to Emilia-Romagna, the food capital of Italy . Home base for this trip is a converted farm in Santarcangelo di Romagna, a charming medieval town near the Adriatic Sea and famous for poets, artists, and even a former pope. Learn to cook with local nonne . And live like locals by attending centuries’ old markets and festivals in the region. Italy tells its stories through its fine crafts and its art. Learn leather making skills at a local artist's workshop, and the ancient art of mosaics from a renowned artigiana. Explore towns that are under-the-radar, but no less fascinating and beautiful - such as Ravenna, Cesenatico, and Bologna. Learn about organic wine and cheese making at their picturesque vineyards and farms. Immerse yourself in this beautiful, local culture and indulge all of your senses - and make memories that will last a lifetime.
ITINERARY
DAY 1 (SEPTEMBER 29) - Arrival at Collina dei Poeti. Relax over aperitivi and settle in. Introductions and low key dinner on site
DAY 2 (SEPTEMBER 30) - Personalized tour of Santarcangelo di Romagna, and a visit to the weekly farmer’s market. Hands on cooking demo and dinner with a local “nonna”.
DAY 3 (OCTOBER 1) - Enjoy the local art scene (and the journey there by bicycle!) followed by a beautiful drive to the country of San Marino. Covering only 23 square miles, San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe after Vatican City and Monaco, with its own currency and government. The views of the region from this charming landlocked nation are spectacular! We will enjoy dinner at one of Emilia-Romagna’s finest restaurants.
DAY 4 (OCTOBER 2) - Take in the beauty of the Valmarecchio value with a morning walk / hike, followed by an afternoon leather crafting workshop with a local artisan. Group dinner.
DAY 5 (OCTOBER 3) - A trip to Italy would not be complete without a visit of the local wineries and cheese makers. Tour their farms, taste their amazing products and indulge your senses. Group dinner in the evening.
DAY 6 (OCTOBER 4) - Food crawl in Bologna. Attend their annual “Festival of Tortellini” and visit the local, centuries-old food and craft markets. Find out why Bologna is the mother of all food scenes! Dinner on your own (if you’re still hungry from a day of eating your way through the city).
DAY 7 (OCTOBER 5) - Travel to Ravenna in the morning with a private tour of this Byzantine city’s famous mosaics, followed by a mosaic-making workshop with a well-known local artist. Continue on for an early evening stroll through the ancient fishing village of Cesenatico, with dinner at a local seaside restaurant.
DAY 8 (OCTOBER 6) - Attend the famous Santarcangelo Antique Market, “la Casa del Tempo”, where you will find unique antiques and vintage. Closing dinner
